Blind Like Justices

Foolishnessis BlindLike Justice

The day had arrived and there was no thrill in the journey ahead. It was an interruption of what needed to be done, as the work piled up. It was an interruption of the schedule always kept. It was an interruption that led outside of the comfort zone. Not heeding the journey had consequences of its own, so on to this journey one must go. The journey ahead had lessons to be taught but a watchful eye was needed, an open heart was required. What was this journey? It was the summons to report for jury duty. Though it is our civil duty, it is also a privilege. Some take it seriously, others don’t, most show up with a mixed bag of emotions.
According to the law, the defendant in court is presumed innocent until proven guilty. A decision to find one innocent or guilty has to be made only by the facts presented not by how you perceive, or how you feel about the case or person being charged. With that, I soon found myself so far outside of my comfort zone, there was only one thing I could do and that was to ask God to guide me. I called on my sister’s in Christ to join with me in prayer. Not only did He led me, He taught me and opened the pages of His word for me to see.

Don’t Be Foolish

“The way of a fool is right in his own eyes. But he who heeds counsel is wise. Proverbs 12:15 NKJV”
The defendant in this case, chose to self represent. Ignoring the wise counsel that was given. Yet, how many times do we ignore wise counsel because we believe our way seems right to us. We don’t see how bad the situation is turning for us until it is too late. Worst yet is when we receive wise counsel and choose to ignore it.

The Ways of A Foolish Person

“A proud and haughty man -_ “Scoffer” is his name; He acts with arrogant pride. Proverbs 21:24 NKJV”
The defendant showed his lack of knowledge for the law as he tried to defend himself. He waltzed about with arrogance pride as lies spilled from his lips. However, when we are caught in sin, our sinful nature wants to do the same. We waltz about proudly, allowing words to spill from our lips that is opposite from the facts. Blinded by our belief that we can skirt around the law, though we may not in reality say that; we are but this is what we perceive to believe about ourselves at that point in time.

The Results of Foolishness

“Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18 NKJV”
The facts revealed the opposite of his spoken words. His reliance and hope in himself failed. He was found guilty. Now the price for his choices have to be paid. Yet again, when we allow our sinful nature to take over and filling us with pride, relying on ourselves. We fail as well. Reality hits you like a brick wall only to bring you to your knees in humility. You dear friend, have been humbled. When you have been humbled, it’s not to break you any further. It’s to aid you and open your heart.

God’s Saving Grace

“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18 NKJV”
There are more times in my walk with Christ than I would like to admit that I have been humbled because of pride and foolishness. Each experience has opened by heart more towards God and His life-giving power that was accomplished on the cross. Though I would rather remain humble; it’s good to be humbled because it keeps my heart open to God’s perfect plan for my life.

Dear heavenly Father, thank you so much for my gift of salvation and my relationship with You. I come before You, asking that my focus would remain upon You. Help me to see any arrogant pride in me, so that it will not become a stumbling block and hold me back from living the life You designed for me. In Your sweet and precious Name. Amen
In His Love, Crisi
