Last year I did a series called Good and Perfect Gifts From God. To add to that series, this year I bring to you Gifts From Heaven.
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17 NIV
It all started years ago when I wanted to make Christmas more meaningful. Yes, you can go out and purchase a countdown calendar, but I wanted something different and unique. The idea was created and we went shopping for some supplies at the local craft store. We purchased a plain wooden box, then went home and decorated as a heirloom. Here is were some planning coming into play. I needed to create twenty-four different items that would have a Bible verse that gave it meaning. I wrapped each item as a gift and placed them inside the box. Starting on the first day of December my son would be allowed to chose one of the gifts. After he unwrapped the present, we would read the Bible verse and then have a discussion as to how that gift came from God and how it applies to our daily life. It has been one of our favorite traditions for the past few years. Starting below, I will share one of the gifts with you. Through out the Christmas season I will be sharing some more. May your Christmas be cheery and bright in the good and perfect gifts from God. If you would like to check out last years series click here on the highlighted link Good and Perfect Gifts. Let’s get started with today’s first gift.
“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIV
The turkey is here to represent as a symbol of Thankfulness. Moments and events in our life can lift us up or bring us down. Giving thanks in all circumstances may seem impossible in the low times but it is very vital for our hearts and minds. It is in the low times,
We seem to learn the greatest lessons. We lean on God the most. We are brought to a bright future.
Chose to give thanks no matter what the circumstances, not just during this Christmas season, but throughout the whole year.
Merry Christmas
In His Love, Crisi
