You Are Known!!
My family and I did a lot of traveling up and down the highway. One summer day in the early 80’s was one of those times. I was in the backseat with my grandma and great grandma. The road was familiar, as well as the routine of what to do on road trips. For me, it was sleep as much as possible. We had just filled up the tank with gas and continued down the road for a fun-filled summer with my grandmas. I settled in for another nap and was fast asleep when it happened. We lost control of the car and rolled into the wooded roadside. The car come to its final resting spot upside down. By-passers stopped and help retrieve us out of the car. As everything got wrapped up with the highway patrol and the tow truck, we were taken to a nearby motel until we got going down the road again. We were all ok with just a few scraps and glass in our skin. I recall my aunts and grandmas being told we were very lucky and that because we had just filled up with gas, that saved us from the possibility of the car blowing up. In my teenage mind that always stuck with me. But as I have gotten older and grown in my relationship God, I would have to say, we were not lucky. We were being watched over and protected by God’s hand of grace and mercy.
“1 Lord, you have examined me and know all about me. 2 You know when I sit down and when I get up. You know my thoughts before I think them. 3 You know where I go and where I lie down. You know everything I do. 4 Lord, even before I say a word, you already know it. 5 You are all around me—in front and in back— and have put your hand on me. 6 Your knowledge is amazing to me; it is more than I can understand. Psalm 139:1-6 NCV“
