“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 NIV

This is the last post in this series. Hate seems to be everywhere now a days. Hate towards things, people, nations and beliefs. It is not hard to find or to observe in our world. How Does This Hate Wound Us? Hate is an emotion that present itself in verbal, harmful words. This emotion can also be the cause of violent, harmful acts. When you are the victim of these actions, they create wounds that need to be healed and turned into beautiful scars that can be held dear.  Let us take a look at Romans and see what God’s Word says in regards as to the observation of haters in our world.

“28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy.” Romans 1:28-31 NIV

Paul writes about what he is observing in the culture of his time in this letter to all those in Rome that were loved by God and called to be His holy people. Their culture was full of haters just as our culture is full of haters.  Those who hate or do acts of hatred are being self-serving and turning their back on the ways of our Lord. We are still called to love them. How do we receive healing when the wounds are gushing from these acts of hatred? We go to God in prayer. We get into His Word and gain wisdom and instruction, then we apply His instructions to our lives.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:7 NIV

The word “fear” that is used in this verse means to fear, to reverence. When we have reverence towards God, we are fearing God. This kind of fear is a good, it does not harm us or hinder us. As we obtain wisdom and knowledge of the Lord, one of the first things we learn is that He loves us. We also learn instructions. Our key verse is one of those verses, that is why we need to turn it over to God in prayer, first and foremost. Our key verse gives us truths and promises, we can hold and know that God will keep His word. There is hope in this verse! There is hope in our times of need! God also offers His promise to give us peace and that He will always be with us, never forsaking us. When you hold God’s truths in your heart, it is easier to recall and reclaim what God has promised to you. He pours His mercy and grace over our your life. He is there always when life throws trials our way. Go to His throne boldly and confidently, asking for His help in your times of need.

In His Love, Crisi
