“17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:17 NIV
A helmet is designed to protect the head from any fatal blows. Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us that we are to take this helmet from God for it is our salvation. Hebrews 4:12 along with todays verse lets us know that the Bible is our sword. Something stands out to me when meditating over this verse, the words “take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit”. Our only offensive weapon we have is the Word of God. Our helmet, our salvation guards our mind and with God’s Word we can use them together against Satan as Jesus did in the desert. By saying “for it is written” then quote the scripture that serves for the battle. In order to be able to use our sword, we need to be hiding His Word in our heart. One of the best ways to hide the Word is in participating in a study like this. Each week during our sessions, we have read, meditated and hidden parts of scripture in our heart. It’s hard to believe eight weeks has already gone by and we have hidden eight more passages in our heart while growing in God’s Word. Even though this is the end of this session, I encourage you to stay in His Word. I pray that you God will continue to richly bless your walk with Him.
Starting the first week of December I have a special Christmas series starting just for you. This post has also been shared in the Facebook group GROW in His Word. Come on over and join in or leave your reflection below in the comment area below.
