Today I tackled a chore that I had no clue how to handle. But if left undone the end results may have been worst than a few broken ornaments like we had when our Christmas tree fell over twice. Just as we watched our tree slowly leaning over each day, all we did about it was ask “does the tree look like it’s leaning over more and more each day?” The answer was yes, yet no one did anything about it until it fell over. Then still no one did anything to correct it other than stand to it upright until it fell over again. With the Christmas tree incident still fresh in my mind, I knew action needed to be swifter this time.
A couple of weeks ago, I went into the garage and noticed one of our overhead cabinets was coming off the wall. Not knowing what to do, I removed the breakables from the cabinet and went on about our laundry. Last week’s laundry time came and you guessed it, it was still leaning and not wanting to deal with it I left it be. So today, I dealt with it. The end results was to just take it down, leaving a messy looking wall from where it had once hung.
How many times does our walk in Christ look exactly like our tree or cabinet? Both had the tell-tell signs that something was wrong, something bad was going to happen. How we choose to deal with it, depends on the end results. We can live in the situation and do nothing about it, as we did with our tree. Then cry out “life is not fair, it wasn’t suppose to happen this way.” When everything falls apart because we never laid it at the feet of Jesus and allowed Him to guide us. The second option is to live in the situation with Christ and allow Him to handle the situation and guide us with wisdom as to what we are to do. The situation may leave a mark of what once was for a while but His grace, mercy and love covers us completely.
How have you seen this to be true in your own life? Was it a Christmas tree moment? or a Cabinet falling off the wall moment? I would love to hear from you. So Please Share.
In His Love, Crisi
