” 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” Ephesians 6:15 NIV
Why Readiness?
In traditional armor the feet were protected by a steel shoe that was worn over a thick moccasin. When in battle the feet must be protected against traps and sharp sticks or broken arrows laying on the ground. What is readiness? It means to be ready. Ready to defend, to give of ourselves, to answer….Ready for the attacks satan will throw at us. We also need to have a firm footing, so we are ready to walk. Our peace comes from God. We are to share the gospel (the Bible) with those on our path. We can not share the gospel of peace if we do not know the gospel of peace, of good news and of hope.
When Jesus was tempted by satan in the desert, He was ready for battle by using scripture. Jesus gave us this example of readiness to show us how to be prepared. The Bible also prepares us to be ready to help other, to be compassionate and to give hope. Are your feet fitted with readiness?
