As a busy mom, there is always that nagging question that is asked everyday! What’s for dinner? I have not quiet perfected it yet but I sure am trying. A couple of years ago, I was a dinner wreck. Always dreading that question coming at the end of the day for I knew it would be asked and I had no idea. The solution was look in the freezer after not seeing much thought OK we will have spaghetti opps no sauce to I guess we will have tacos. Well the problem with this was we would end up eating the same 7 different meal each week. You guessed it the family would then protest. After a while of “I don’t like that”, “I don’t want that, but I do want to eat.” I got the idea of making a monthly menu. WOW!!! what a revelation!! So I got on the computer and printed out a monthly calender that had big blocks that I could write in. Then I pulled out my cookbooks and started penciling in meals. Let me tell you this is not as easy as it sounds. Thirty to thirty-one different meals for the month is tough. The hope was then to transfer the meals onto the next new month. Seemed easy enough until the first of the month came and I forgot to make the transfer. It is still a work in progress but I have found that with planning ahead. My grocery shopping has gotten easier. Now when the weekly circulars come out instead of looking for the things I need this week. I have been able to buy mostly only the sale items for the monthly planned meals. By adding some coupons to the mix I have been able to cut the monthly grocery drastically. Being a good steward of our money and my time has been my blessing from God.
Tell me how you answer the dreaded question, “What’s for dinner?”
