When starting this blog three years ago, I had no idea who, if anyone would want to hear my view. Yet, The One who I write for is the same who has used my words to touch many. I don’t say that in a bragging way. No, I say it humbly for the words that I have shared has reached the 107 countries that God wanted to hear His word. This number shocked me, though I know it shouldn’t. It made me realize as a servant of His, I have a responsibility to share what is on my heart. Today’s post is not your typical anniversary blog post but I felt that same nudge that I felt three years ago and knew I could not do it any other way. Thank you for supporting Reserved and Waiting with your comments and prayers.
When The Lights Go Out
It seems like a long time ago, when we had an unprecedented hurricane season like no other. As the storms came ashore one after another, they left our community in shambles. For days on end, we spent a good bit of time, in some kind of line whether it was for food, ice, water, or gas. The blazing sun was unrelenting and the air stood still while we drew together hand in hand rebuilding our community the best that we could. For nights on end, the comfort did not come as we drew baths from boiling water in our candle lit homes. The humming from the generators never seemed to end during the hot, balmy nights, just to start it all over again. Yet in the wake of everything, there is something to be said. When the lights went out, the light of hope and humanity shined bright through our community. Neighbor helped neighbor, no matter what color, race, or religion. The bond was not broken but strengthened. When the lights came back on, united we stayed because the storm revealed our bond.
Just like these storms, our nation is being battered by a storm. A storm that is leaving humanity in shambles. Homes are being torn apart, holes are being left in our hearts, and people are being divided. As I watch the events from all around the world, my heart breaks and I can’t help but wonder why. Why so much hatred? Why so much pain? Why so much violence? Why so much of a divide? When did it become ok to blast those that you do not agree with? When did it become ok to voice how we feel, without regard to those around us? When did it become ok to react violently to violence? We know the biblical answers, for God has given them to us through His Word. The devil and his demons are having a field day with humanity. He knows that his time is short and he is seeking to devour and destroy all that he can. He is using the hurt people to hurt others. The lights may be about to go out, but the light of hope still shines. That light of hope shines through you and myself, as believers. It is our calling. It is what we are supposed to do. We are to share and show God’s love to those around us. We can pray. We can be a comfort to those who are hurting. We can keep on shining.
Here is a few of thing we can pray:
-
Pray for the healing of our nation.
-
Pray for the leaders of our land
-
Pray for our communities
-
Pray for our first responders and law enforcement
The Lord told us He would never leave us nor forsake us. He gave us the Holy Spirit to give us comfort and peace. He is our Rock, and our salvation. We need to remember that we need to keep our eyes focus on Him and Him alone. He is not going to let us drown in the storms of life and he will help us to love others and love them well. 1 John 3:16 tells us we know what love is because Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. When we shine our light for Jesus, we can build bonds that can remain strong. As songs resonate with my heart, I will leave you today with a part of Hillsong United’s – Oceans
“Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior
Oh, Jesus, you’re my God!
I will call upon Your name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embrace
I am Yours and You are mine.”
In His Love, Crisi
